Why Stain Fails Here

Florida Eats Outdoor Wood Alive

UV breaks down the surface fibers, afternoon storms drive moisture in, and mildew moves in behind it. Stain applied over a dirty or damp surface never bonds — which is why so many decks look tired one season later.

Wood brightener to reopen the grain
Moisture check before application
Light sanding of rough or splintered areas
Loose fastener check
Stain applied to full saturation
Plants, siding & concrete masked

How It Works

How We Get Stain to Actually Last

Zero surprises, zero babysitting. You'll always know what happens next — and exactly what it costs.

Assess the Wood

Age, species, and previous coatings determine which system will bond — and which one will fail.

Clean & Brighten

Wash off mildew, chalk, and grey oxidized fibers, then brighten so the wood accepts stain evenly.

Dry & Check

We wait for the right moisture level. Staining damp wood is the fastest way to seal in a future problem.

Stain to Saturation

Applied until the wood stops drinking, worked in evenly, with edges and end grain never skipped.

What Actually Drives Your Quote

Every home is different, so we don't publish a fake number and change it later. Here's exactly what we're measuring when we walk your property.

1

Linear feet or deck square footage

The straightforward one — more surface, more material and labor.

2

Condition and age of the wood

Grey, weathered, or previously coated wood needs significantly more prep than newer lumber.

3

Stain type

Transparent, semi-transparent, and solid stains differ in cost, coverage, and how often they need redoing.

4

Railings, spindles & lattice

Detail work eats time. A deck with 80 spindles is not the same job as an open platform.

Don't let budget stall the project

Questions

Staining Questions

How often should I re-stain in Florida?

Horizontal surfaces that take direct sun usually need attention every 2–3 years. Vertical fencing lasts longer. Proper prep meaningfully extends both.

Transparent, semi-transparent, or solid?

More pigment means more UV protection but less visible grain. We'll walk you through the trade-off for your specific wood.

Can you stain a fence that's already grey?

Usually yes. Cleaning and brightening pulls the grey oxidized layer off and reopens the grain so new stain can bond.

Will my plants be damaged?

No. Landscaping, siding, and hardscape all get masked and protected before any washing or staining starts.

What if it rains?

We plan around the forecast and dew point. Stain that gets rained on before it cures has to be redone — so we simply don't start when it's a risk.
